Circumcisions

Dr. Stephen Wainer performs circumcisions within 30 days of the newborns  of due date. A referral is not needed for an appointment to be scheduled however, this procedure is not covered under Alberta Health and is paid privately.

Please arrive 15 minutes early to give staff time to prepare your newborn for the procedure.

Bring the following items to your appointment:

• Infant’s Tylenol drops
• Polysporin ointment
• Extra diapers and clothing
• Formula (if not breastfeeding)

We recommend that you feed your newborn before coming to your appointment and arrange childcare for your other children.

You will be given Intake Forms and circumcision consent to complete. You will also be provided with information regarding the procedure and the infant will be weighed and measured.

The method used in our clinic is the Mogen Technique. The procedure will take 20 minutes, but you will be asked to stay in the clinic for 40-60 minutes for observation.
