Circumcision appointment
The Children’s Health Clinic provides circumcision appointments within 30 days from the newborn’s due date. A referral is not needed for an appointment to be scheduled. This procedure is not covered under Alberta Health and is paid privately.

Preparing for your appointment
Bring the following items to your appointment:
- Infant’s Tylenol drops
- Polysporin ointment
- Extra diapers and clothing
- Formula (if not breastfeeding)
We recommend that you feed the infant before coming to your appointment. Please arrange childcare for your other children.
We ask that you arrive 15 minutes before your appointment for check-in. You will be given a Patient Demographic Form and circumcision consent to complete. You will also be provided with information regarding the procedure and the infant will be weighed and measured.
The method used in our clinic is the Mogen Technique. The circumcision itself will take 10-15 minutes. Your baby will be observed for 40-60 minutes after the procedure before you will be allowed to leave.
